Naas CBS Success at the ZeroDays Cyber Security Challenge!

20 March 2025

For the first time, Naas CBS proudly participated in the annual Irish Cyber-Schools Security Challenge, organised by Zero Days Security, at UCD yesterday. We were thrilled to have four teams – two from Transition Year and two from our 5th Year Computer Science class – compete in this unique event.

Out of 58 teams and over 220 participants, we are incredibly proud to announce that our two 5th Year teams secured joint 2nd place overall—an outstanding achievement!

The events aim to showcase the cyber-security industry as an exciting and accessible career path. Competing in teams of four, students tackled over 30 cyber-security challenges, including web hacking, scripting/coding tasks, escape rooms, virtual reality challenges, security testing, and bug bounties.

A special congratulations to Dawid Van Vuuren and Shane Codd, whose exceptional talent caught the attention of the organisers. They have been invited to Croke Park this Saturday to take part in Ireland’s flagship national cyber-security event, alongside university graduates and ICT professionals. With over 300 participants expected, this will be one of the largest in-person CTF (Capture The Flag) competitions globally.

Well done to the lads and wishing them the best of luck on Saturday!
