Kilcullen Road Active Travel Scheme

14 December 2023

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Please see the attached message from Kildare County Council in relation to traffic management for January 2024.

This is phase 3 of the scheme which will cover Murtagh’s Corner to Swans. A one- way  system will operate in this area.

Traffic restrictions will be in place until April 2024

Please note that works on the Kilcullen Road Active Travel Scheme will be proceeding to the next phase after Christmas. This consists of the section between Murtagh’s Corner and the Ballymore Road junction. A new traffic management plan will be put in place from 2nd January 2024. I have attached a copy for reference.

Essentially there will be a one-way system in operation between Murtagh’s Corner and the Ballymore Road Junction. Traffic will flow in an outbound direction from Main Street Naas. Please note that there will be no access to Main Street Naas or St. Corban’s Lane from either the Kilcullen Road or the Ballymore Road. Vehicles wishing to access Main Street Naas or St. Corban’s Lane from either the Kilcullen Road or the Ballymore Road will be required to follow the diversions via the South Ring Road.

The works will also impact the set-down area in front of Supervalu, as this area will be unavailable throughout the next phase of the project.

I would be obliged if you could inform your students, teachers, parents and bus operators etc. about these changes. Further details of the project are available on Kildare County Council’s websitehttps://kildarecoco.ie/AllServices/Roads/RoadSafetyCyclingandSustainableTransport/SustainableTransport/SustainableInfrastructureProjects/KilcullenRoadActiveTravelScheme/).

Kind regards,

The Management Team
