Architects in Schools – TY Workshop
On Friday last week Martin Nolan architect was a guest visitor to our school to host the ‘Architects in Schools’ workshop which is kindly supported by the Irish Architecture Foundation. Transition Year students participating in the workshop gained an insight into the working life of an architect. Students were introduced methods of working that are used to create innovative solutions to design problems.
Students were set the design task of re-imagining the use of the library space in the school. They were given free rein to create a new use for the space and enjoyed the opportunity to explore their designs through sketches and models. Participating students worked collaboratively as they would in a design studio and each group presented their designs at the conclusion of the event. The workshop was a valuable and enjoyable experience for all involved.
