Update on All- Weather Sports Facility
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Further to our update on the Naas CBS all-weather sports facility project, sent to parents via the school app in early October 2024, we committed to keeping you informed ongoing of the development’s progress. At the time we reported that despite the success in fundraising, there remained a significant gap to close before the project was fully financed and that we had therefore embraced our partner, Naas GAA’s application to the Large-Scale Sports Infrastructure (LSSIF), the outcome of which was expected in late 2024.
Many in our school community may be aware already that good news came in late December 2024 and that the application was indeed successful. Our development, in partnership with Naas GAA and NCC, was one of several GAA projects that was awarded a significant grant.
Whilst of course this is the most positive news we could hope for and whilst we are ever closer to bringing this much-needed facility for our school and the wider Naas community to fruition, there now remains a stringent process which parties must follow before LSSIF funds can be drawn down and before work can therefore begin. As such, we now anticipate a short delay period during which we will work very closely with all stakeholders before work commences at the site on the school campus. We remain committed to updating you with news in due course.
As iterated before, we are sincerely grateful to so many who have already contributed so significantly; the parents who have made generous voluntary contributions and who supported the school raffles and bingo events; the Naas CBS teachers who have added substantially to the fund through their own fundraising efforts; our many committed pitch-side advertisers and sponsors; the businesses owners who have donated plentifully to this cause; a former pupil for holding a fundraising opera night; a number of sporting bodies for their financial assistance; the local Councillors who have pledged Naas Municipal District grants and their support. The notable generosity and community spirit has ensured this project will indeed come to fruition!
In the meantime, with a much-reduced funding gap, our Finance Committee remains dedicated to filling the remaining advertising positions available. Furthermore, we remind and assure advertisers that their 3- year term only commences the day the all-weather facility is opened.
