As Principal of Meánscoil Iognáid Rís, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our website which gives a good sense of daily life in the school.
Meánscoil Iognáid Rís is an all-boys Catholic voluntary secondary school under the Trusteeship of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust, formerly the Irish Christian Brothers. The school is named after the founder of the Order, Edmund Rice.
The school traditionally welcomes students from a wide catchment area and this mix of town and country contributes greatly to the excellent atmosphere which is a celebrated feature of the school.
The mission/ethos of the school is to provide Catholic education in the Edmund Rice tradition. We strive to create a school atmosphere where faith and Christian values of respect, justice and integrity are nurtured. A feature of our school is the warm, welcoming atmosphere where positive relationships between our staff, parents and students are highly valued and of utmost importance to us.
The school aims to provide the very best education for all our pupils, which is directed at all aspects of maturity. We strive to provide pupils with excellent teaching and learning and we expect each pupil to work hard and to achieve his full potential. Valuing each and every pupil irrespective of ability, special need, background or family circumstance remains an important value in our school. We also value the tremendous support of parents for the school.
All in the school are committed to the creation of an atmosphere where positive behaviour is promoted. We encourage the boys to “buy into” this philosophy and strive to be the best they can be. This philosophy is driven by a sense of care for the lads (students may forget what you taught them but they will never forget how you made them feel).
We hope as you browse through the website you will get a sense of what we value and what’s important to us. If we can be of assistance in anyway please don’t hesitate to call in.
