Huge congratulations to the Senior football team and their teachers Mr. Joyce and Mr. McGuinness who won the Leinster Colleges Senior ‘A’ final beating Marist College, Athlone in Tullamore on Saturday 10th March by a score of 9 points to 7. The win was made all the more special by the fact that it was the first time a Kildare school had won the championship since 1923, generating a huge amount of interest in the final from across the county.
The match remained close throughout with little more than a couple of points separating the two sides for the entire duration. Throughout the second half, Naas CBS managed to keep two points between them and Marist College until the opposition leveled the match with about six minutes to go. However, the Naas CBS lads drove on putting a further two points on the board. A true sign of the their determination and resilience. After a couple of minutes extra time, the referee blew the whistle and the Naas CBS Senior team were the relieved and overjoyed champions.
The team next move on to face Rice College, Westport in the All-Ireland Semi-finals on 24th March.
