Transition Year Exchange with Germany

For the second time this year nine Transition Year students took part in an exchange with the Gymnasium Aulendorf in Germany.

Together with their teacher Ms Lonergan they left for Germany on Wednesday December 6th. After a warm welcome the pupils went home with their host families.

On Thursday they travelled together with their German counterparts to Ulm, to climb the highest church tower of the world, the tower of the Ulmer Münster. Afterwards they spent some time in the Christmas market.

On Friday the students went along with their exchange partners to their classes.

Later in the day they experienced more German culture first- hand when they went for “Kaffee und Kuchen”.

The CBS boys spent the weekend with their host families and met again Monday morning in the classrooms. Together with Miss Lonergan they explored Aulendorf and had lots of fun in the snow covered Park and on the playground.

The next excursion brought them all to Bregenz in Austria, where they took a cable car up to the “Pfänder”.

It was even colder up there and after they climbed the summit, they went for a well deserved break in a typical Austrian “Hütte”

On the way home the CBS boys stopped for a guided tour of the Mercedes Benz Arena, the home of the VfB Stuttgart.
This exchange was a great success for all and everybody had a great time. The boys practiced and improved their German and immersed themselves in German every day life.
We are now looking forward to the return visit of the boys from Germany, which will take place in spring 2018.
