TY Students acknowledged at Kildare Enterprise Awards

TY students, Sean Usher, Owen Lloyd and Luca Antolovi were presented with an award for ‘Excellence in Business’ at the Kildare Enterprise Awards in Kilkea Castle last Friday 1st December. The award was presented by the Mayor of Naas, Martin Miley, Irish businessman and former presidential candidate, Sean Gallagher and Kildare County Council Head of Enterprise Jacqui McNabb.

The awards follows the success of the students in the Student Enterprise Competition earlier this year. For their TY Mini-company, Sean, Owen and Luca decided to create a cook book called ‘Taste of Kildare’ consisting of recipes from some of Kildare’s top restaurants.

The boys represented our school in the Student Enterprise Competition early in 2017, and they won the Kildare region.

They then went on to represent Kildare in the National Finals in Croke Park in May of this year. While they did not get placed in this competition, they learnt a lot from the experience. They were interviewed by some top business people and got to see and learn from the other student enterprise finalists.
