TY Student Exchange Trip to Waldbreitbach Germany

11 pupils of our TY German group recently took part in an exchange with a school in Waldbreitbach in Germany.

The boys left on Wednesday December 7th together with 10 girls from St. Mary’s and their teachers Ms Lonergan and Ms Gibbons to spend a week in a small town between Cologne and Koblenz. They were greeted by the school band and went straight home to their exchange families. On Thursday and Friday they went to school with their exchange partners. They also got a guided tour of Waldbreitbach which is famous for the many cribs that decorate each shop.

The weekend was again spent with their host families which enabled the pupils to totally immerse themselves into German culture and language.

Monday they travelled to Phantasialand, and Tuesday brought them to Cologne where they got a guided tour of the famous Cathedral. Here the pupils went off with their German exchange partners to experience a few of the many Christmas Markets in Cologne.

Pupils and teachers alike had a great time and we are all looking forward now to the return visit of the group from Waldbreitbach in May 2017.
